Playoffs without the Saints

Any other year I would be depressed. Any other year I wouldn't want to watch the playoffs. Any other year I would be vehemently cheering against all of the Saints' foes. But this year, this season, was such an anomaly, such an oddity that it defied all logic. As such, this postseason is also decidedly different for me.

I find myself feeling such relief at the merciful ending of the Saints' season of misery that I believe I can actually enjoy the playoffs. I will be rooting for the Cardinals and continue to look upon the Panthers with complete and utter disdain. Cam Newton nearly got killed when his truck flipped over, but escaped with relatively minor injuries. One would think that there might be a change in someone who comes that close to death. One would think so. That doesn't appear to be the case for Cam, however. He still seems to be as arrogant as ever on the field. Still thinks he's Superman. Whatever. Still a loser in my book. I know the Cards are a longshot with their QB situation and all. I hope they can pull off a win on Saturday. Then I won't have to see Cam pretending to be Superman anymore this year.

I am looking forward to seeing who takes it all and hoping like crazy that it will NOT be the Seahawks. I would also rather the Cowboys beat the Lions simply because I can't stand Suh, the thug. No other reason. My disgust for Suh and the reprehensible way that the NFL continues to let him get away with his thuggery ultimately outweighs my strong dislike for the Cowboys.

I've never liked the Steelers or the Ravens so I don't much care who wins that one. I would just like to see a good game, not a one-sided blowout. Given my basic distrust of Flacco and the fact that I've never seen Ben Roethlisberger play as well as he has this season I'm thinking the Steelers take it. It's just a bonus that they would be beating the team that Steve Smith plays on, lol. Oh, yeah, and Lance Moore is a Steeler too.

While part of me is pulling for the Bengals to finally win their first playoff game, I like Luck and the Colts. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing the Colts go all the way. I don't care for the Bengals and wish the Browns had made it into the playoffs, but can't stand Manziel. Poor Browns! They should never have drafted him. Oh well.

Yes, I am looking forward to stress-free football games this weekend. Whatever happens, at least I know I won't have to worry about which Saints team will show up. They've packed it up for the season and I am alright with it. At least they won their last game. Have to admit, there were times during the game I had to switch the channel though. They were so painful to watch at so many times this season. I'm glad it's over.
