Wasn't it just last weekend the hottest topic on these boards was when will Drew get signed? If we could only go back to that time...
I've been reading most of the threads since the whole "bounty-gate" story broke and it is so unreal to me. I can't even talk to anyone about it yet because it's too fresh. Too much up in the air and unknown yet.
I can only hope and pray that whatever the verdict is against the team and organization, it will be meted out with measured balance, since it seems that several players and coaches have admitted publicly that this sort of practice has been going on in the league for a long time.
Speculation as to the final outcome and effects of this scandal (and it is a scandal) runs the gamut from "give us our punishment and let's get on with the business of winning another Super Bowl" to "this will greatly impair our chances of having a winning season in 2012."
It is hard to imagine that this won't affect the team adversely this year- in fact, for many years to come. How can it not? How can this team go about with business as usual after becoming the league's poster child for how not to run a defense? I just don't see it.
I certainly don't have the answers, I'm just trying to sort it all out in my own brain and heart. I feel like I've been blindsided and am trying to catch my breath from having the wind knocked out of me. It hurts to see this happening... especially knowing that I cannot defend Loomis or Payton if they are guilty of what the NFL statement says they are.
What a nightmare. I wish I could wake up and find it was all just that. I really do.
